A Trip to see Heidi

     Today Alison and I planned to meet Heidi for a walk and to drop off some food and DVDs; however, she wasn't feeling so well after her last round of chemo on Tuesday.  We still made a couple of meals, including desserts :), and met in Big Lake for a visit at her house instead.  We were also joined by another friend and colleague, April, and her very cute little girl, Brynn.  Peter and Rachel were home too.  It was fun to catch up with them, but Amanda is in Texas, so we didn't get to see her this time. ):  She leads a busy life of a college girl!! :) Oddly enough, April, Alison, and I have taught all of the Olson children!!  How lucky are we?!
     I don't think any of us were too bummed about the walk considering the extreme heat and humidity; I think we all enjoyed the three hour visit instead.  Poor Heidi!! She was a trooper since she looked like she'd rather be snuggled up in bed.  We all enjoyed the visit though, and there was never a lull in the conversation.  It was nice to see her smiling and laughing.  By the time we stopped visiting, we noticed that the two "dessert trays" had been somewhat diminished.  The kids must have enjoyed them, which was great to see.  
     Alison and I also got to meet Lucy, the new kitty that they are taking care of until they officially hand her over to Heidi's parents.  She was recently spayed and declawed, so she gets to wear a "pretty" halo.  They got her from the Bischoffs (which is where we got our cat, Benji, eight years ago about this same time of the year)!!  Lucy is a sweetie, and she sure purrs loudly.  It was fun to meet her.

     (Behind us is a beautiful watercolor painting that Heidi's oldest daughter, Amanda, just completed for a final in one of her college classes.  It is just amazing, and she has a number of other gorgeous art pieces displayed around their home.  She is one talented girl!!)
